Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
