Large-scale Russian Strikes Cut Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has increased assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area endured intense attacks overnight. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.

The attacks come after evenings of air raids in the region, parts of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
